Neighborhood House President Armando Camacho has been named the new CEO at Opportunity Partners, a nonprofit serving people with disabilities.
Since 2008, Camacho has served as president of Neighborhood House, a St. Paul nonprofit resource center for immigrants and the poor. He is credited by agency leaders with helping it navigate the strains of the recent recession while still being able to expand needed services to the community.
“Neighborhood House is stronger today than it was when Armando arrived,” board Chairman Eric Levinson said in a prepared statement.
At Opportunity Partners, Camacho will oversee an agency that serves 1,900 people with disabilities each year through residential, training and employment programs. He will serve as its president and chief executive officer.
“This is an innovative organization focused on helping individuals with disabilities live and work in the community and take greater control of their lives,” Camacho said in a prepared statement.
Before joining Neighborhood House, Camacho was an assistant director of Alternative Learning Programs at St. Paul Public Schools and was a principal in the Minneapolis school district. He has a bachelor’s degree in special education from St. Cloud State University.
Neighborhood House will soon put an interim executive management plan in place. Camacho’s last day will be Jan. 10. He starts at Opportunity Partners on Jan. 13.
