![Coleman wants Tim Butler to serve second term as fire chief]()
Tim Butler will serve a second six-year term as St. Paul fire chief.
Mayor Chris Coleman announced the reappointment Thursday, saying Butler has proven he is “the best person to lead the St. Paul Fire Department.” The mayor praised Butler for improvements in the department’s response times, infrastructure and staff diversity.
A retired member of the U.S. Coast Guard and Reserves, Butler previously served as St. Paul’s first director of emergency management.
The St. Paul City Council is slated to vote on re-confirming Butler at its Aug. 7 meeting.
