On Wednesday, June 12, the St. Paul City Council will interview 12 candidates for an interim appointment to the Ward 1 seat being vacated by Melvin Carter III, who is leaving in July to take a state position overseeing early learning education efforts. The new council member will serve from July until November, when the winner of the November election will take over the seat, serving for the remaining two years of Carter’s unexpired term.

The interviews take place on the third floor of City Hall / the Ramsey County Courthouse, on Kellogg Boulevard. Ward 1 represents Frogtown, Summit-University and parts of surrounding neighborhoods.

Not listed in the interview schedule are applicants Nick Seeberger and Lori Stee. Did they pull out of the running or did they have scheduling conflicts requiring another date? Council clerk is busy in a meeting, so inquiring minds will have to wait to find out… Seeberger dropped out and Stee will be out of town during the interviews.
