The Twin Cities and specific Minneapolis neighborhoods such as Loring Park and Uptown have been named, time and again, among the most gay-friendly communities in the Midwest, if not the country.

How gay-friendly are we? St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, in an effort to again plant the proud flag of equality, lent his political leverage last week to Minnesotans United, a political action committee that coordinated the state's recent marriage equality legislation.

Coleman last Tuesday sent out the following notice about the "Big Gay Race," a fundraising effort to help support lawmakers who voted for marriage equality and are facing political contests this election season.

Coleman and his administration are no strangers to the cause. During the fight for gay marriage rights, Minnesotans United was led by former Coleman spokesman Richard Carlbom, and the mayor had a series of bright and highly-visible gay pride flags planted atop the Wabasha Bridge.

That's a decisive stand in favor of gay rights on behalf of Coleman, who is completing a year-long stint as president of the National League of Cities.

Wow (---),

I know you saw it, but let's talk about it anyway. Last week, the Supreme Court paved the way for a significant growth in states where same-sex couples have the freedom to marry. Now, couples in Virginia, Utah, Oklahoma, Indiana, Wisconsin, Colorado, West Virginia, Nevada, Alaska & Idaho can get married - with even more states soon to follow!

This was a historic week for the United States, and what better way to celebrate the fact that 60% of Americans now have marriage equality than at the Big Gay Race this Saturday?

Do this NOW because you're running out of time: Sign up for the 2014 Big Gay Race today!

The Big Gay Race will kick off THIS Saturday, October 18 at 9am on St Anthony Main over in Minneapolis. Election Day is less than a month away, and we really need you to join us in supporting the lawmakers who helped make marriage equality a reality in Minnesota.

All proceeds will go directly to Minnesotans United PAC, which is working to protect the courageous lawmakers who voted to support marriage for all Minnesotans.

Please don't miss out on this opportunity to show your continued support of freedom and fairness for all Minnesota families.

Sign up for the Big Gay Race today!

Thanks,
Chris Coleman
Mayor of Saint Paul
